ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports the Patriots’ ownership has a “strong preference to come out of the first round with a quarterback.”

The Patriots currently hold the No. 3 overall pick. All signs point to Jayden Daniels coming off the board second after Caleb Williams, leaving New England to choose between Drake Maye and J.J. McCarthy. Though Graziano says the Pats are willing to trade down, previous reports have called the offers they have received “laughable.” Putting the pieces together, the Patriots want a king’s ransom to move off their pick of the remaining quarterbacks. It doesn’t sound like that is happening.
