An MRI confirmed Dak Prescott suffered a calf strain in Week 6 but the Cowboys' medical staff is "optimistic" he will play following the team's Week 7 bye.

The Cowboys square off against Minnesota in Week 8. Dallas has a beautifully timed bye next week, giving Prescott plenty of time to rest. He said that he could have kept playing had his Week 6 game gone longer so the extra recovery time should be enough to get him on the field with no games missed. As long as he's active, Dak remains a QB1. The Cowboys have been trending toward a run-heavy approach but Prescott is playing so well that even limited volume can't hold him back. He has at least three scores in all but one game this year.
