He will “almost certainly” be designated as a post-June 1 release to spread around his $99.2 million in dead money. The Dolphins obviously had to try to see if there was a trade out there for the cap savings, but it never made much sense that there would be a trade market for Tagovailoa after he was benched for Quinn Ewers last year. Entering his age-28 season, it’s an open question if Tua will land somewhere where he’ll actually compete for a starting role.
