We’re not really sure how much this matters — the Jets have no long-term quarterback and were obviously going to do all they could to find someone at the position this offseason. It’s possible that Simpson is in play for the Jets at No. 16 overall. Simpson — only a one-year starter at Alabama — feels more like the 2026 version of Kenny Pickett than someone who we believe has a major chance to be a star quarterback. But the Jets are in a situation where they simply must keep firing darts at the position and hoping one hits.
