Homer was fighting for an end-of-bench spot in the Steelers’ running back room. His release indicates they will keep Eli Heidenreich on the initial 53-man roster. Also waived/released by the Steelers were DL Kyler Baugh, DB Devan Boykin, DB Sebastian Castro, DL Anthony Goodlow, WR Max Hurleman, DB D’Shawn Jamison, OL Steven Jones, TE Lance Mason, TE Lake McRee, OL Doug Nester, RB Lew Nichols, DB Doneiko Slaughter, WR Brandon Smith, LB Julius Welschof, LB Jacoby Windmon, LB Malik Harrison, DL Esezi Otomewo, and LB Elandon Roberts.
