NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports there's "legitimate and real" trade interest involving Raiders QB Marcus Mariota.
09 February 2021
The Raiders have fielded calls from various teams on both Derek Carr and Mariota, both of whom have reasonable 2021 contracts. The Athletic reported that the Raiders' "preference" is to trade Mariota instead of Carr, and it looks like Vegas will be able to pull that off. Teams like the Bears, Colts, and Patriots appear to be out of the Deshaun Watson and rookie quarterback sweepstakes, so quarterbacks like Mariota could be the next best option. It's unclear what draft pick Mariota can fetch after his beastly one-game performance last year, but it's possible a team saw enough to give Mariota a chance to start in 2021. The hope would be a Ryan Tannehill-like turnaround.
