Lions HC Dan Campbell said there’s an “outside chance” Sam LaPorta (knee) will play in the team’s wild card game against the Rams.

We’re assuming there’s added emphasis on the phrase “outside chance.” LaPorta avoided a potentially very bad injury in Week 18’s win over the Vikings, but the injury still didn’t look good. He reportedly suffered a hyperextended knee and bone bruise in Sunday’s contest, but we’d consider him a legitimate long-shot to play in Sunday’s wild-card matchup against the Rams. Campbell said the team is “talking in days, not weeks” regarding LaPorta’s chances to return, but a seven-day turnaround still seems unlikely. LaPorta’s name will be one to keep an eye on when the Lions release their injury report Wednesday.
