Commanders signed QB Josh Johnson, formerly of the Ravens, to a one-year contract.

11 April 2025

A new (first stint) parenthetical opens up in Johnson’s Wikipedia. Johnson embarks on his age-39 season as the clear No. 3 quarterback in Washington behind Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota. Johnson started three games for the Commanders in 2018 and completed 2-of-3 passes for 17 yards for the Ravens last season as Lamar Jackson’s backup. Signing with a different team would have been better for his Immaculate Grid usefulness, but the NFL’s ultimate journeyman should get a chance to crack t ...

Browns signed QB Joe Flacco, formerly of the Colts, to a one-year, $4 million contract.

11 April 2025

Flacco will get a chance to earn “up to” $13 million this year with incentives. Entering his age-40 season, Flacco probably is more of a fallback than an actual plan for the Browns at this point. He started six games for the Colts last year and finished with 1761 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 65.3 percent of his passes. Flacco might have enough in the tank — especially back in Kevin Stefanski’s offense — to beat out Kenny Pickett in training camp if the ...

FOX Sports 640’s Andy Slater reports that the NFL has requested the 911 audio from the recent domestic dispute involving Tyreek Hill.

11 April 2025

Per a follow-up report from NBC Sports’ ProFootballTalk, “the NFL could take action under the Personal Conduct Policy, regardless of whether no action is taken against Hill in the criminal justice system.” The NFL, however, does not have subpoena power, so participation by the requestees is voluntary. There’s probably not a reason to expect Hill to draw a conduct policy suspension just yet, but if Hill’s mother-in-law or wife cooperate with the NFL, fantasy managers should probably hav ...

Texas WR Isaiah Bond turned himself in Thursday morning on a sexual assault warrant issued by the Frisco Police Department.

11 April 2025

Per the report, “Bond, 20, was subsequently released after posting bail.” Further details on the matter have not yet been released. In a statement made to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Bond said he is fully cooperating with the authorities and will remain a willing and active participant in the investigation. Bond spent 2022 and 2023 at Alabama before transferring to Texas for 2024. The Texas product had been a projected Day 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but if this investigation hangs over ...

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter’s stress reaction in his foot is healing and that “no surgery will be needed.”

11 April 2025

Carter had his medical recheck in Indianapolis on Thursday after a stress reaction in his right foot was discovered during the NFL Scouting Combine in February. “It should be a non-factor with the teams at this point,” agent Drew Rosenhaus said. Carter is expected to arrive in New Jersey on Thursday evening where he will have dinner with the Giants, before his top-30 visit with the team on Friday, per the MMQB’s Albert Breer.

Colts released K Matt Gay.

11 April 2025

Gay, who signed as a free agent in 2023, made 64-of-78 field goals (82.1 percent) and 68-of-69 PATs (98.6 percent) in 33 games with the Colts. The six-year veteran was a Pro Bowl selection in 2021 with the Rams, helping his team win a Super Bowl that season. The move leaves the Colts with Spencer Shrader as the lone kicker on their roster. Per Over the Cap, the move creates $2.75 million in cap space for the Colts.

NBC Houston’s Aaron Wilson reports that the Texans hosted Minnesota LT Aireontae Ersery on a top-30 visit.

11 April 2025

The Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, who is regarded as a potential late first-round pick, started all 12 games he played at left tackle for Minnesota in 2024. According to PFF, Ersery allowed just one sack last season. The Texans, who currently hold the 25th overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, dealt Pro Bowl tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Commanders in March and are in the market for offensive line help at essentially every position.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that “Ohio State OT Josh Simmons is visiting today with the Colts and Friday with the Chiefs.”

11 April 2025

Simmons suffered a torn patellar tendon in 2024 but is still in the mix as a Day 1 prospect. He would likely slot in as a potential future starter behind the Colts or Chiefs’ starting offensive tackle duos. He allowed just one quarterback pressure in seven games played last season.

Giants hosted UNC RB Omarion Hampton for a visit on Thursday.

10 April 2025

The 6-foot, 221-pound Hampton demonstrated high-end athleticism at the NFL Scouting Combine, following an excellent three-year campaign at North Carolina. In his final college season, Hampton rushed 281 times for 1,660 yards and 15 touchdowns while forcing 73 missed tackles and registering zero fumbles. He caught 38-of-43 targets for 373 yards and two touchdowns while forcing an additional eight missed tackles. Hampton has the type of three-down skillset to steal Tyrone Tracy Jr.'s starting role ...

Bengals hosted Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson for visit on Thursday.

10 April 2025

Johnson showcased adequate speed (4.57-second 40-yard dash) for a big-bodied back at the NFL Scouting Combine. In his final season at Iowa last year, he rushed 240 times for 1,535 yards and 21 touchdowns while never once fumbling and forcing 66 missed tackles. Although he is less accomplished as a receiver, Johnson notably caught 22-of-25 targets for 190 yards and two touchdowns. He would provide the Bengals with a burly complement to incumbent starter Chase Brown (5-foot-9, 209 pounds).

Eagles signed WR Terrace Marshall Jr., formerly of the Raiders, to a one-year contract.

10 April 2025

Marshall may have a chance to battle for the No. 3 WR role but is perhaps best suited to the No. 4 or 5 gig. Marshall caught 3-of-5 targets for 41 yards with the Raiders in 2024. He caught his lone career touchdown with the Panthers in 2022.

NFL.com reports that Texas WR Isaiah Bond “turned himself in Thursday morning on a sexual assault warrant issued by the Frisco (Texas) Police Department.”

Per the report, “Bond, 20, was subsequently released after posting bail.” Further details on the matter have not yet been released. Bond spent 2022 and 2023 at Alabama before transferring to Texas for 2024. “The Texas product has been widely predicted to be a Day 2" pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

ESPN’s Louis Riddick said that Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders’ camp “wants” Sanders to be drafted by a team picking outside of the top three.

10 April 2025

Riddick’s comments come five days after he reportedly met with Deion Sanders, who, Cleveland’s Mary Kay Cabot explains, “have remained in close contact” since their 1993 season together with the Falcons. Riddick said he hopes that Sanders “doesn’t go in the top three picks” and that he thinks Sanders’ camp “would tell you the same thing. There are other teams they want to go to.” Riddick listed the Saints, Steelers and Raiders as being “very good fits for [Sanders].”

Rams re-signed LB Troy Reeder to a one-year contract.

10 April 2025

Reeder contributes on both defense and special teams but was limited to just six games in 2024 after suffering a season-ending hamstring injury in Week 7. He notched 31 tackles, one going for a loss or no gain, and one pass defended. He should handle a similar role this season.

Jets reworked WR Allen Lazard’s contract.

10 April 2025

Lazard was brought in on a four-year, $44 million contract two offseasons ago as a part of the Jets’ recruitment of Aaron Rodgers. The move was only slightly less disastrous than the one to acquire Rodgers. Lazard did little in his first season as a Jet and was a healthy scratch late in the year. He looked better when paired with Rodgers last year, going for 530 yards and six scores in a dozen games. Lazard doesn’t bring much to the table without Rodgers throwing him the ball, but a pay cut ...

Per Over the Cap, the move creates $2.75 million in cap space for the Colts, while still having to pay $4 million in dead money.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Browns will host Oregon TE Terrance Ferguson for a visit today.

10 April 2025

If selected by the Browns, he would join a receiving corps which features David Njoku, who boasted the league’s fifth-highest target share in 2024. Ferguson had the fastest 40 (4.63 seconds) and the highest vertical jump (39”) among tight ends at the combine. PFF graded Ferguson 30th among FBS tight ends last season.
